Piano

Music plays an important part in my life. It helps me relax, dream, think and remember events of the past. I started learning the piano at age 11 but I refused to continue after several lessons because the teacher was too strict on me! Soon, I started learning the electronic organ. This time it lasted for more than 2 years. During this period, I often play my favourite songs on the piano. Gradually, I found myself playing the piano more often than the organ. This is perhaps I love the acoustic sound of the piano which an organ can't produce. Ever since I stopped attending the organ classes, the piano becomes the only instrument my fingers longing to touch. My ability to read music scores gradually faded away and now I can only play the piano by the ear. I still wish that I could read music so that I could play more difficult and complex pieces. Because of my limited music skills, I resorted to creating my own. They are composed of simple and slow melodies. As I can neither read nor write music scores, these pieces are stored neurologically (not the best format!). To avoid losing these songs from my neurones, I have tried to record onto cassette tapes but with unsatisfactory quality. Thanks to the advancement of technology, I can now record digitally and share my music with you. Unfortunately, audio files are large and may take time to download. I have tried to compress these files down to acceptable sizes but this will no doubt compromise on sound quality.

A short ‘preview’ of each song will be played when mouse-over the song titles. Clicking on each of the images on the right will bring you to new pages where music file (.wav) attached to each page will start playing automatically (plugins are needed for Netscape and Opera browsers) after downloading (files are large, so please be patient!). To terminate the automatic download or to stop the looped playback, just click the Stop button on your browser. Don’t forget to turn on your speakers! Enjoy listening....
